Follow the journey of Spectranext from concept to reality and beyond.
Initial hardware design and proof of concept completed. Spectranext currently works exactly as Spectranet, just over Wi-Fi.
Limited units were tested by early adopters across real Spectrum setups. The tests were successful and gave useful feedback before production.
Observed and fixed issues:
The first proper production batch is now being manufactured. It is deliberately small, mainly to validate real demand before moving the project into a larger run.
This batch follows successful trials on real machines, including 48K, 128K, +2 and +3 models. The package will contain the cartridge, with a companion multiplayer game planned as a free digital release.
When the batch is ready, it will be available through the site and selected distributors.
The devices procured for the small production batch will be made available for sale through the website. This keeps the first public sale controlled and makes it easier to support early buyers directly.
After the small batch sale, buyer feedback will be reviewed carefully. Any newly identified faults will be fixed before committing to a larger manufacturing run.
Once demand is better understood, pre-orders will open for the next production batch. The size of that batch will depend on real interest rather than guesswork.
Orders from the general pre-order will be manufactured as a new production batch, with the final quantity based on confirmed demand.
Continuous development of new capabilities based on community feedback. Enhanced networking features, expanded SDK, and additional hardware revisions.
